How I Work — A Proven Process for Digital Projects

For over 10 years I have worked as a freelance AI Engineer and Software Engineer. During this time I have developed a process that has proven itself for projects of all sizes: structured, transparent and results-oriented.

Every project goes through five clearly defined phases. Depending on scope and complexity, phases can be run iteratively or adjusted.

Phase 1: Analysis — The Foundation for Success

Before we design or develop, we understand the “why”. In this phase I analyze together with you:

  • Your business goals: What should the website achieve?
  • Your target audience: Who do you want to reach?
  • The competition: What are your competitors doing — and how can you stand out?
  • Existing content and systems: What can we use, what needs to be new?

Outcome: A clear requirements document serving as the shared foundation for the entire project.

Phase 2: Concept — Structure and Strategy

Based on the analysis, I develop the content and structural concept:

  • Sitemap and information architecture: What pages are needed, how do they connect?
  • Wireframes: Structural sketches of each page without visual distraction
  • Content planning: What content is needed, what already exists?
  • SEO strategy: Keyword research and structural optimization from the start

Outcome: An approved concept that forms the blueprint for design and development.

Phase 3: Design — Visual Creation

Now it becomes visible:

  • Moodboard and style tile: Aligning direction and atmosphere
  • High-fidelity screen designs: Pixel-perfect design of all relevant pages and states
  • Responsive design: Optimization for all screen sizes
  • Interactive prototype: Clickable prototype in Figma for realistic testing

Outcome: Approved screen designs showing exactly what the final website will look and feel like.

Phase 4: Development — Clean Implementation

The design is translated into code:

  • Setting up the development environment: Angular/Astro/Vue.js/React with Tailwind CSS
  • Component development: Reusable building blocks following atomic design principles
  • Content integration: Importing and formatting content
  • Responsive testing: Ensuring functionality on all devices
  • Performance optimization: Core Web Vitals, image optimization, caching

Outcome: A fully functional website on a staging server.

Phase 5: Launch & Support — Going Live

The final step:

  • Quality assurance: Thorough testing of all functions, links and forms
  • SEO finalization: Meta tags, schema markup, sitemap, llms.txt
  • Deployment: Upload to the production server
  • Handover: Documentation and training
  • Support: Ongoing maintenance, updates and optimization as needed

Outcome: A live, performant website with the security that you won’t be left alone.
